Aninver Development Partners SL is seeking a qualified Civil / Structural Engineer for an upcoming technical assistance assignment in Guinea-Bissau. The project focuses on maritime infrastructure development, specifically involving preparatory studies, feasibility assessments, and detailed engineering designs for port and coastal facilities.

The successful candidate will provide expert technical leadership on structural assessments and design works, collaborating closely with local stakeholders and international consultants to ensure adherence to best practices in civil engineering and maritime development.

Aninver is preparing a proposal for this assignment. The selected expert will be part of the proposed team; the engagement is conditional on the contract being awarded to Aninver. The full Terms of Reference for the position are shared with shortlisted candidates.

Objectives of the assignment

• Conduct comprehensive preparatory and feasibility studies for maritime infrastructure in Guinea-Bissau.
• Develop robust civil and structural engineering designs for piled wharves and related port facilities.
• Ensure technical compliance, safety standards, and environmental soundness across all engineering outputs.

Scope of work

• Performing technical feasibility studies for maritime and port infrastructure developments.
• Carrying out site investigations, structural assessments, and data analysis.
• Preparing detailed engineering designs, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Reviewing existing infrastructure conditions and proposing rehabilitation or new construction measures.
• Contributing to reporting deliverables and stakeholder consultations throughout the assignment.

Your role as Civil / Structural Engineer

• Lead the civil and structural engineering components of the assignment in compliance with international standards.
• Design maritime structures, with a specific focus on piled wharves and coastal engineering elements.
• Manage the preparation of feasibility studies, preliminary layouts, and detailed design documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to integrate geotechnical, environmental, and socio-economic findings.
• Provide technical guidance, quality assurance, and oversight for all structural deliverables.
• Participate in technical meetings and present findings to relevant project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Education: Master's degree or equivalent in civil/structural engineering
• At least 10 years of experience in maritime infrastructure, including piled wharves
• Experience as an engineer on at least 2 similar projects involving preparatory studies, including feasibility studies and detailed design
• Languages: Fluent in French or English (written and spoken)

Desirable

• Knowledge of the region is an advantage
• Prior professional experience or regional knowledge working in West Africa.
• Working proficiency in Portuguese or local languages is considered an asset.

An experienced Civil / Structural Engineer with a strong background in maritime infrastructure and piled wharves, ready to deliver high-quality technical studies and designs in Guinea-Bissau.
