Aninver Development Partners SL is currently preparing a technical proposal for an upcoming consulting assignment in Guinea-Bissau focused on environmental management and nature conservation in coastal and remote environments. We are seeking a qualified Environmental Engineer or Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team of experts for this 6-month engagement.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all project activities adhere to environmental standards, working closely with remote communities and key stakeholders to promote sustainable practices and safeguard local ecosystems.

Aninver is preparing a proposal for this assignment. The selected expert will be part of the proposed team; the engagement is conditional on the contract being awarded to Aninver. The full Terms of Reference for the position are shared with shortlisted candidates.

Objectives of the assignment

• Support the integration of environmental management safeguards across all project components in Guinea-Bissau
• Assess and mitigate potential environmental risks associated with coastal and remote interventions
• Engage effectively with remote communities to raise awareness on nature conservation
• Ensure compliance with national environmental regulations and international best practices

Scope of work

• Conduct environmental assessments in coastal and remote project areas
• Develop and implement environmental management and mitigation plans
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations and community outreach activities with remote populations
• Monitor environmental indicators and prepare comprehensive progress reports
• Provide technical guidance on nature conservation and sustainable resource management

Your role as Environmental Engineer or Specialist

• Lead all technical activities related to environmental engineering and management
• Collaborate with team members to integrate environmental safeguards into project deliverables
• Design and execute field assessments in challenging coastal environments
• Consult directly with remote communities to incorporate local perspectives into conservation plans
• Draft technical reports, assessments, and recommendations for the client and project stakeholders
• Ensure timely delivery of all assigned environmental outputs within the 6-month duration

Requirements

• Education: University degree in environmental management with significant experience in nature conservation
• At least 10 years of experience in environmental management in coastal and remote environments
• Experience on at least 2 similar projects with remote communities
• Languages: Fluent in French or Portuguese

Desirable

• Knowledge of the region is an advantage
• Prior working knowledge and professional experience in the region
• Familiarity with donor-funded project procedures and requirements

An experienced Environmental Engineer or Specialist with a strong background in coastal conservation and community engagement in remote settings, fluent in French or Portuguese.
