Aninver Development Partners is currently preparing a proposal for a regional initiative funded by CAF - Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe, focused on sustainable blue economy, port development, and maritime decarbonization. We are seeking a qualified Maritime Transport and Decarbonization Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team for this multicountry consultancy assignment.

The expert will play a critical role in analyzing regional maritime transport emissions, evaluating priority maritime corridors, and designing strategic pathways for fleet decarbonization. This initiative supports the transition toward low-carbon operations in alignment with international climate targets, fostering sustainable economic integration across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Aninver is preparing a proposal for this assignment. The selected expert will be part of the proposed team; the engagement is conditional on the contract being awarded to Aninver. The full Terms of Reference for the position are shared with shortlisted candidates.

Objectives of the assignment

• Design a regional roadmap for the decarbonization of the maritime fleet in alignment with international net-zero targets.
• Analyze regional maritime transport emissions and identify priority maritime corridors.
• Evaluate technological, operational, and clean fuel alternatives for vessel energy efficiency.
• Contribute to a comprehensive regional strategy promoting sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon maritime transport.

Scope of work

• Elaborate a regional baseline report on port and maritime sustainability.
• Formulate a regional roadmap for the transition toward green-blue and resilient ports.
• Perform technical analysis of regional maritime transport emissions and evaluate priority shipping corridors.
• Assess technological, operational, and alternative fuel options for maritime fleet decarbonization.
• Design a regional roadmap for the decarbonization of the maritime fleet in line with international climate frameworks.
• Develop a regional governance framework and capacity-building plan for the sustainable maritime-port sector.
• Structure innovative green-blue financing schemes and an initial portfolio of strategic projects.
• Organize a regional forum to validate and articulate findings with key sector stakeholders.

Your role as Especialista en Transporte Marítimo y Descarbonización

• Lead technical analysis related to maritime transport, logistics, and vessel energy efficiency.
• Evaluate alternative fuels and decarbonization technologies applicable to the regional fleet.
• Assess emissions from regional maritime transport and identify priority shipping corridors.
• Collaborate in the formulation of the regional maritime fleet decarbonization roadmap.
• Contribute technical inputs to regional diagnostics and strategic roadmap documents.
• Engage with public and private stakeholders to validate findings related to maritime decarbonization.

Requirements

• Education: Profesional en disciplinas afines
• Experiencia mínima de cinco (5) años en análisis del sector marítimo, logística marítima, eficiencia energética de embarcaciones, combustibles alternativos o tecnologías de descarbonización del transporte marítimo
• Languages: Español fluido

Desirable

• Previous experience working on technical assistance projects for multilateral development banks in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Demonstrated background in green port initiatives or sustainable blue economy strategies.

A maritime transport expert with at least 5 years of experience in vessel energy efficiency, alternative fuels, and shipping decarbonization technologies, fluent in Spanish.
