Aninver Development Partners SL is currently preparing a proposal for an upcoming consulting assignment funded by the African Development Bank Group in South Africa. We are seeking a qualified Financial Sector Regulatory Expert to join our multidisciplinary team for this 15-month engagement. The overarching goal of the project is to strengthen the financial sector regulatory and reporting framework in the country, aligning institutional practices with international standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with key financial institutions and regulatory bodies in South Africa to enhance supervisory mechanisms and data collection frameworks. This role is pivotal for ensuring the stability, transparency, and resilience of the national financial sector through robust regulatory oversight and capacity building.

Aninver is preparing a proposal for this assignment. The selected expert will be part of the proposed team; the engagement is conditional on the contract being awarded to Aninver. The full Terms of Reference for the position are shared with shortlisted candidates.

Objectives of the assignment

• Strengthen financial sector regulatory and supervisory frameworks in South Africa.
• Improve compliance with international reporting standards and best practices.
• Enhance institutional capacity for data collection and financial analysis.

Scope of work

• Review existing financial sector regulations and supervisory guidelines.
• Assess current reporting standards and identify gaps for improvement.
• Design and support the implementation of enhanced data collection frameworks.
• Conduct stakeholder consultations and workshops with regulatory authorities.
• Draft policy recommendations and operational guidelines for financial supervision.

Your role as Financial Sector Regulatory Expert

• Lead activities related to financial sector regulation and banking supervision.
• Collaborate with central banks and regulatory stakeholders in South Africa.
• Provide technical expertise on reporting standards and data collection frameworks.
• Deliver high-quality reports and deliverables within the designated project timeline.
• Coordinate closely with team members and the donor to ensure project objectives are met.

Requirements

• Education: Master’s degree in Banking, Finance or related field
• At least 10 years of proven experience working with central banks and on banking supervision, good knowledge of reporting standards

Desirable

• Experience in implementing SDD collection frameworks is an asset
• Prior experience in implementing SDD collection frameworks.
• Previous professional engagement on assignments funded by the African Development Bank Group or similar multilateral donors.
• Experience working within the Southern African region.
