Aninver Development Partners SL (www.aninver.com) is looking for a Geophysical and mining engineers pool for a mining, monitoring evaluation, construction consultancy assignment financed by COMESA in Multiple countries.

Aninver Development Partners is preparing a proposal for a comprehensive consultancy assignment commissioned by COMESA across multiple countries. The overarching goal is to conduct a mining sector baseline study, support regional resource governance, and deliver targeted capacity building in alignment with international best practices and regional industrial policies.

To strengthen our technical team for this assignment, we are seeking qualified experts for the Geophysical and Mining Engineers Pool. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in assessing mineral resource potential, evaluating mining operations, and providing technical engineering insights to foster a sustainable and well-governed mining sector across the COMESA region.

Aninver is preparing a proposal for this assignment. The selected expert will be part of the proposed team; the engagement is conditional on the contract being awarded to Aninver. The full Terms of Reference for the position are shared with shortlisted candidates.

Objectives of the assignment

• Assess the level and quality of resource potential data, including resource and reserve bases across member states.
• Evaluate mining sector operations spanning prospection, exploration, operational phases, and mine closure.
• Contribute technical engineering data to the regional mining sector baseline study and profiling.
• Enhance regional and national capacities in resource knowledge infrastructure and exploration technologies.
• Support the development of sustainable, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible mining practices.

Scope of work

• Establishing the baseline situation for the mining sector across prospection, exploration, operational phase, and mine closure.
• Assessing resource and reserve bases and the quality of resource potential data in member states.
• Analyzing mining codes and policies focusing on climate change, ESIA compliance, and institutional frameworks.
• Reviewing applicable regimes and contracts between large-scale mining operators and governments.
• Enhancing upstream mining sector governance through targeted technical assessments.
• Conducting capacity building on resource knowledge infrastructure, exploration technologies, and best operational practices.
• Supporting the integration of technical standards into regional mining frameworks.

Your role as Geophysical and mining engineers pool

• Conduct high-resolution geophysical surveys and elaborate mining block cartography.
• Assess mineral prospection and exploration data, resource potential, and reserve bases.
• Evaluate the operational phase of mining sites and review mine closure plans and practices.
• Provide technical expertise on the management of mining blocks and operational site activities.
• Contribute to capacity-building programs for regional stakeholders focusing on exploration technologies and resource infrastructure.
• Collaborate with economists, fiscal experts, and project management teams to integrate engineering data into baseline reports.
• Ensure technical analyses align with regional sustainability, environmental, and safety standards.

Requirements

• Education: Engineer Diploma in geophysical or mining
• At least 7 years of expertise or experience, thorough knowledge of the prospection and exploration of mining block, operation of mining sites and mine closure
• Proven skills in conducting high resolution geophysical survey and elaborating cartography mining blocks
• Languages: Fluency in both written and spoken English and French

Desirable

• Experience working on regional or international mining sector assignments within the COMESA region or similar contexts.
• Familiarity with environmental and social impact assessments in mining operations.
• Experience in delivering technical training or capacity building to public sector officials.

An experienced geophysical or mining engineer with a strong background in resource exploration, site operations, mine closure, and high-resolution geophysical surveying, fully bilingual in English and French.
