Aninver Development Partners is seeking an experienced Industrial Energy Efficiency Expert for an upcoming institutional support project funded by UNIDO in Cameroon. The initiative focuses on promoting sustainable, low-carbon industrial development, enhancing trade competitiveness, and strengthening regional quality infrastructure for clean energy technologies within selected priority value chains.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in mapping industrial energy use, conducting baseline assessments, and designing a comprehensive Regional Industrial Energy Efficiency Programme. This assignment aims to accelerate the transition toward circular and climate-neutral industrial practices across the region by integrating advanced energy management frameworks.

Aninver is preparing a proposal for this assignment. The selected expert will be part of the proposed team; the engagement is conditional on the contract being awarded to Aninver. The full Terms of Reference for the position are shared with shortlisted candidates.

Objectives of the assignment

• Assess industrial energy use patterns and establish baseline metrics within selected priority value chains.
• Identify criteria and minimum energy consumption thresholds for industrial targeting and program design.
• Develop a regional Industrial Energy Efficiency Program supporting enterprises through structured interventions.
• Conduct market studies to strengthen regional supply chain capacity in clean technologies and energy efficiency solutions.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations and validation workshops with key institutional and industry partners.

Scope of work

• Conduct desk reviews and comprehensive baseline assessments of the industrial sector and energy consumption patterns.
• Map the industrial structure of targeted value chains and identify barriers to adopting clean technologies.
• Perform market assessments of clean technology supply chains relevant to industrial energy efficiency applications.
• Evaluate market demand, supply capacities, and opportunities for improving access to industrial energy efficiency solutions.
• Design a Regional Industrial Energy Efficiency Programme focusing on performance improvement and competitiveness.
• Define programme rationale, objectives, Energy Management Systems components, and capacity-building packages.
• Organize and lead stakeholder consultations, validation meetings, and on-site workshops with regional stakeholders.

Your role as Industrial Energy Efficiency Expert

• Lead technical assessments of industrial energy efficiency, energy audits, and industrial decarbonization pathways.
• Formulate energy-consumption thresholds and criteria for industrial targeting within the selected value chains.
• Design the implementation framework for Energy Management Systems and Energy Systems Optimization.
• Contribute technical insights to the market study on clean technology supply chains and regional market capacities.
• Draft comprehensive technical reports, programmatic roadmaps, and institutional capacity-building packages.
• Coordinate closely with the Team Leader and other project experts to ensure coherent and evidence-based deliverables.
• Present findings and facilitate discussions during stakeholder consultations, validation sessions, and the final on-site workshop.

Requirements

• Education: Advanced university degree in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial energy efficiency, ISO 50001, EnMS implementation, industrial energy audits, energy optimization, and industrial decarbonization
• Languages: Proficiency in English and French (written and spoken)

Desirable

• Previous professional experience working on donor-funded assignments within the region.
• Demonstrated familiarity with regional industrial development frameworks and quality infrastructure.
• Experience facilitating high-level stakeholder workshops and technical validation sessions.
