Según se especifica en el informe de necesidad elaborado por el técnico responsable del contrato: [SIC] "GIAHSA gestiona más de 100 captaciones subterráneas a lo largo de la sierra de Huelva. En el seguimiento de turbideces del agua captada de estas captaciones a lo largo de los últimos cinco años se ha constatado la necesidad de aplicación de procesos de filtración en muchas de ellas, para dar cumplimiento al criterio normativo expresado. Tras un estudio de implantación se han diseñado agrupaciones que permiten reducir el número de las estaciones de filtración, instalándolas en la entrada del agua a los depósitos de cabecera o reguladores. Entre los abastecimientos en que se necesita la instalación de Estaciones de Filtración destacan: Fuenteheridos (por seguridad sanitaria en la captación desde el manantial Fuente de los Doce Caños ubicado en el corazón del núcleo urbano, Aroche por seguridad sanitaria en las captaciones de manantiales desde Barranquitos y la desde los Pozos Belleza, Hinojales para reducir puntas de turbidez en caso de lluvias y Los Marines por la misma razón. Se ha establecido un Plan de Actuaciones a cinco años para ir dotando a los Abastecimientos de la Sierra de Huelva, paulatinamente, de las instalaciones de filtración que se requieren para el cumplimiento de los requisitos del Art.36 del RD3/2023."
