Lokale bediening Botlektunnel heeft momenteel geen vaste telefonieverbinding naar het openbare net. Bedienlocaties Thomassentunnel en Botlektunnel maken voor vaste telefonie gebruik van oude (legacy) ISDN telefooncentrales die via een zogeheten 'Patton Box' op het openbare telefoonnet zijn aangesloten. Deze aansluiting wordt nu geleverd door service-provider Odido. Deze dienst stopt per 1 januari 2026. Om de vaste telefonieverbinding in stand te houden is door CIV een plan opgesteld om deze dienst over te nemen via RWS netwerk. Om deze oplossing aan te sluiten dienen er netwerkaansluitingen te worden aangelegd tussen de VOR en de locatie van de Patton Box in zowel Thomassentunnel als Botlektunnel. De beschikbare aansluitpunten in de VOR zijn door SPIE in opdracht van CIV in kaart gebracht. Zie tekst bij de korte beschrijving.
