In het project MPV-50 (Multi Purpose Vessels) worden twee nieuwe vaartuigen gebouwd en geleverd, met als hoofdtaak markeren. Daarnaast zullen de vaartuigen worden ingezet bij incidentenbestrijding, meten ecologie, bevoorraden platforms en heeft de kustwacht een trekkingsrecht op de twee nieuwe vaartuigen. De vaartuigen zullen uitgerust worden met een duurzame energievoorziening, op basis van dual fuel methanol motoren en een batterijpakket.
