Bygget er et kulturhistorisk og arkitektonisk verdifullt bygg som ble fredet i sin helhet av Riksantikvaren i 1994. Kinosalen er nå stengt etter funn som tilsier at bærekonstruksjon av loft og tak over kinosal er underdimensjonert og svekket. Arbeidet omfatter i grove trekk midlertidig stempling i kinosal, ny stålkonstruksjon på loft over kinosal, og de- og remontering av diverse tekniske installasjoner.
