De aanvullende diensten betreft specifiek de verlenging van de dienstverlening Connectiviteit voordat afbouw van (nog resterende delen) van deze dienst Connectiviteit (C=K) daadwerkelijk kan starten. Deze dienstverlening is in 2014 aanbesteed en gegund aan KPN B.V. De Connectiviteit dienstverlening is cruciaal voor de werking en beschikbaarheid van de NS dienstverlening die momenteel in verschillende kavels van IT dienstverlening is aanbesteed en gegund.
Door aanpassingen in Connectiviteit vanwege security doeleinden en het (veilig) kunnen connecteren van de nieuwe dienstverlening uit de aanbestede kavels is er behoefte om de Connectiviteitsdienstverlening voor een periode tot uiterlijk 1-11-2030 te continueren om de beschikbaarheid van de NS dienstverlening te kunnen blijven garanderen en de overdracht naar de leverancier(s) van de nieuwe vorm van IT dienstverlening te realiseren. NS wenst de overeenkomst te verlengen bij de huidige leverancier KPN B.V.
