Description
The American Spaces, administered through the U.S. Embassy Zambia's Public Diplomacy Section (PDS), are open-access learning and gathering places that promote interaction – both in-person and virtual – among local audiences and the United States. American Spaces deliver compelling programs and activities on a wide range of themes and topics, from freedom of speech and digital rights to American history and innovative use of AI and technology. American Spaces aim to provide accurate information about the United States and combat disinformation; engage and leverage alumni of U.S. exchange programs to execute programming to compliment administrative priorities; facilitate English language learning and teaching; host strategic cultural programming; promote study at higher education institutions in the United States through EducationUSA; and offer professional skill building. In Zambia, the U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section operates three American Spaces throughout the country – the American Center for Leadership at the U.S. Embassy in Lusaka; the American Corner at the National Institute for Public Administration in Lusaka; and the American Corner at Copperbelt University in Kitwe. Often, the American Corners receive disbursements in small increments, with payments made to individual vendors and sub-grantees. The grantee will not be involved in the development and execution of American Spaces programming. The grantee will assist the U.S. Embassy Public Diplomacy Section in disbursing funds to organizations and individuals to cover programmatic costs, logistics fees, supply fees, and any other expenses as directed by the Embassy’s American Spaces team.
The grantee will meet the following objectives: · Disburse funds to vendors, organizations, and individuals to cover programmatic costs. · Facilitate payments to support activity and event preparations across all three American Spaces. · Provide the PDS American Spaces team with regular reports on financial expenditures and budget execution. · Disburse payments for logistics, supply fees, and other expenses as directed by the Embassy's American Spaces team across all three locations.
