De acordo com os critérios de liberação de benefícios, a mesma é considerada usuária da Assistência Social. É de reponsabilidade da Política de Saúde a liberação e financiamento do benefício, levando em consideração que a paciente adquiriu uma prótese de perna esquerda e necessita da meia para proteção da mesma. A aquisição ainda se justifica, devido a necessidade de substituição da meia atual que se apresenta desgastada pelo uso. As meias de coto proporcionam maior conforto ao usuário e proteção do membro amputado eliminando o atrito, pressão, impacto dentro do encaixe da prótese, e aliviam as dores e desconforto.
