Expansion of S11/S-Bahn main line Cologne - Pile load test concept Cologne Central Station

The project "Expansion of S11 Core Package TM 7 – Cologne Central Station." is part of the project Expansion of S11/S-Bahn main line Cologne. Measures are planned to increase the capacity of the S-Bahn main line. This includes the creation of additional S-Bahn tracks including additional platform edges in Cologne Central Station and Cologne Messe/Deutz as well as the optimization of the control and signaling technology in order to achieve a train frequency increase from the current 3.3 min. to a new 2.5 min. train interval. The project Expansion of S11 includes, among other things, the following sub-measure mentioned here in the area of DB InfraGO AG: - TM 7: Expansion of Cologne Central Station by two S-Bahn platform edges on the north side (new island platform on tracks 12 and 13 including track connections). In connection with the expansion of the S11 at Cologne Central Station, the foundation of supports for the track on bored piles according to DIN EN 1536 is planned, which are to be placed in the sediments of the Rhine terrace. Due to a strict limitation of the pile head settlements to a measure of 10 mm under service load, the predominantly axially stressed large-diameter bored piles are to be produced with a casing and base grouting. A special feature in the planning and execution of the deep foundation are existing structures in the subsoil (e.g. tunnels). Through investigations within the scope of pile load tests on three separately produced test piles ("test piles" in the sense of DIN EN 1536), the expected load-bearing and deformation behavior of the planned structural piles under static loading in both vertical and horizontal directions is to be determined. The test piles will not be used as structural piles later.
