Dadurch soll eine Redundanz im Versorgungsgebiet geschaffen werden, sowohl im Wasserbezug als auch in der -verteilung. Vom HB Galgenberg soll eine Trasse zum Standort des HB Ursprungweg geführt werden, hier ist der Neubau eines Druckminderschachts geplant, um die Hochzone Merklingen zu versorgen.
