The Jubiläumshalle was designed by the Biel architect Max Schlup and is classified as a heritage object in the inventory of the Cantonal Monument Preservation Office. It is a cultural asset of national importance. The Jubiläumshalle is an important witness to the building culture of the 1980s and a significant representative of the programmatic building culture of the Jura South Foot architecture. The sports hall is the national performance center for the Swiss national gymnastics team. After four decades of use, various building components have reached the end of their life cycle and must be renovated for uninterrupted operation. Furthermore, user requirements for the sports hall have changed over time. The project includes the renovation of the building envelope and interior surfaces, the replacement of all building services and lighting, as well as various adjustments to current norms and standards. With changes to the floor plan, the changing room areas will be reorganized, meeting rooms that can be combined and a strength training room will be created, as well as offices for coaches and a theory room will be newly arranged. In addition, the sports hall will be reorganized with the construction of additional pits and other adjustments. The work will not be carried out during operation.
