Project Description: The expansion of the primary school is planned for the municipality of Brunnthal. The primary school consists of several buildings that were constructed in several phases. As the school is located in a village area on a narrow plot, efforts are made to build on as little additional space as possible, which in turn leads to reduced outdoor areas. Furthermore, the structural conditions of the existing buildings must be taken into account. The project is divided into two construction phases. Breakdown of structural measures: North Section: The northern construction in the main entrance area of the school. Intermediate Building: The junction of the existing buildings, achieved through demolition and new construction. Courtyard Section: Side extension in the courtyard area. South Section – Building "C": Renovation work in the existing building. Explanation North Section: Basement: A boiler room and a pellet bunker made of reinforced concrete will be created in the new building. In the existing building, windows will be bricked up for fire protection reasons, the potter's oven room will be adapted, and the existing boiler room will be demolished to create barrier-free access. New fire protection walls, doors, and a new floor structure are required for this. In addition, ventilation in the corridor will be supplemented, which requires the suspended ceiling to be renewed. Ground Floor: New areas for the secretariat and the principal's and vice-principal's offices will be created in the new building. Load-bearing walls will primarily be constructed in solid wood construction, supplemented by reinforced concrete and drywall. Windows and doors will be executed as wood-aluminum or highly insulated metal constructions. In the existing building, classrooms will be supplemented with drywall partitions, new sanitary and utility rooms will be created, and the corridor, ventilation, and stair railings will be renewed. The facade will receive a ventilated wooden facade with mineral insulation. First Floor: Two classrooms will be created in the new building using solid wood construction with wooden box ceilings and integrated acoustics. In the existing building, the lighting of a classroom will be relocated to the west. For this purpose, existing windows will be closed and new windows installed. Additionally, new door openings with soundproof doors will be created to ensure the second escape route. Here too, the facade will be insulated and clad with wood. Attic: An existing gable window will be closed due to a new exhaust chimney. Explanation Intermediate Building: Demolition and New Construction: The existing intermediate building will be completely demolished and rebuilt. New foundations, reinforced concrete columns, and ceilings will be created between the gymnasium and building "A". The former courtyard will be redesigned into an atrium and expand the seating areas. Ground and First Floors: The demolition of existing walls will eliminate previous management and cloakroom areas. Instead, new sanitary and cloakroom areas will be created with drywall partitions, new doors, and skylights. Explanation Courtyard Section Basement: An underground connecting structure made of reinforced concrete will enable barrier-free access between buildings A and C. Additionally, an elevator shaft will be added, and existing walls will receive new fire doors. Ground and First Floors: The southern connecting corridor will be demolished and rebuilt in wood construction. Rooms for music, lunch supervision, groups, and cloakrooms will be created in the new building using solid wood construction with wooden box ceilings and integrated acoustics. Windows and doors will be executed as wood-aluminum constructions. Attic: The roof area can be insulated with a new gable roof. The elevator shaft will be extended to the attic. Gable walls will be constructed in solid wood, and the fire wall and elevator head in reinforced concrete. A fire wall will separate the stairwell area.
