Notice of Contract Award Regarding Collection of Recyclable Waste Fractions in Egedal Municipality

Egedal Municipality has awarded a contract for the collection and transportation of recyclable waste fractions. This significant contract is set to commence on October 1, 2026, and will initially run for a period of six years, concluding on September 30, 2032. Importantly, the contract includes an option for extension on unchanged terms, which can be exercised twice for a duration of 12 months each, potentially extending the total contract period to eight years. The scope of work encompasses the collection of various recyclable materials from all private households, municipal institutions, and small businesses within Egedal Municipality. The specific fractions to be collected include plastic, food and beverage cartons, paper, metal, and glass. Egedal Municipality is a geographically extensive area of 126 km2, serving approximately 19,500 households, with a portion located in rural zones. The service currently caters to an estimated 45,000 residents, comprising around 13,000 households with individual collection arrangements, approximately 2,400 households utilizing shared waste solutions (environmental islands), and an additional 4,400 households with underground bin systems for paper. The contract also covers approximately 320 plots, 120 municipal institutions (such as schools, childcare facilities, and cultural centers), and around 100 small businesses. The service extends to approximately 500 registered summer houses, which are managed under the individual collection scheme. A new regulation for business waste, effective from October 2025, is expected to enroll up to 100 businesses into this collection service.
