BERU 2026/01 KK. EUH2STARS Optical cable pair laying

Within the framework of the EUH2STARS project, the construction of an optical cable system parallel to the hydrogen target pipeline route between Kardoskút and Pusztaszőlős, as follows. Within the framework of the EUH2STARS project, a DN80/PN160 carbon steel hydrogen target pipeline will be laid approximately 5 meters from the DN250/PN160 production-injection pipeline route. In exceptional cases, natural gas may also be transported through this pipeline, but it will primarily be used for the transport of H2 produced in Kardoskút. Simultaneously with the pipeline, at a distance of 0.7-0.7 meters from its axis on both sides, for redundancy purposes, a 48-core 9/125 type, single-mode (SN) optical cable will be laid in a Ø32x3 PE protective pipe. Within the framework of the EUH2STARS H2 target pipeline laying project, drilling will be carried out at 4 locations due to structures, and for each structure drilling, protective pipes of Ø32x3 dimensions will be pulled on both sides of the hydrogen target pipeline, maintaining safety distances. Therefore, within the scope of this project, efforts should be made to ensure the continuity of the protective pipe using a method that does not narrow the cross-section of the KPE protective pipe at the joints. (The use of plastic connectors is not recommended to avoid pipe narrowing.) If necessary and possible, pressure tests and passage tests should be carried out on the laid KPE pipes section by section. Subsequently, the optical cable must be blown into the KPE protective pipe using the air blowing method along its entire length. Cable pulling must be carried out from building to building, and the pulled cable ends must be terminated, measured, and documented in cable termination boxes located in the buildings. Taking into account maintenance aspects, provision must be made for splicing and the installation of junction boxes – applying as few splices – and thus attenuation – as possible.
