Below is a summary of the work to be performed: The national consultant will conduct an assessment of the profile of the OSH practitioner workforce in Kenya and the competencies delivered through the existing OSH training curricula for OSH practitioners against the ILO competency framework for OSH professionals. To this end, the assessment will comprise: A. A survey of the OSH practitioner workforce to provide a diagnostic overview of the existing workforce, including gender, age, roles, years of experience, qualifications, education levels, sector of employment and geographical distribution, in support of the development of a national profile of the OSH practitioner workforce. B. An assessment of the challenges faced by Safey and Health Advisors in performing their duties and accessing the profession. C. A mapping of the instructor’s guide for the OSH Proficiency Certificate Course for practitioners against the ILO competency framework for OSH professionals, in order to identify areas for improvement. This approach aims to provide the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS) with an evidence base to strengthen the national OSH qualification system. It is intended to support improvements in training curriculum and registration criteria so that OSH practitioners are better equipped to meet national needs and address evolving occupational risks.
