The City is to develop a zoning overlay map for Zoning Bylaw 20001 that identifies areas within the wildland urban interface (WUI) where the greatest wildfire risk is present. This map would identify where to apply wildfire risk mitigation zoning regulations to affected properties. The purpose of these zoning regulations is to: 1. Minimize damage and disruption to private and public property in the wildland urban interface due to a wildfire event; 2. Support reducing the cost of rebuilding after a wildfire event; and 3. Ensure the safety of those living in wildfire risk areas.
