YKAN’s mission is to protect the lands and waters on which all life depends. To fulfil this mission, YKAN implements innovative solutions that foster harmony between nature and people. This involves implementing effective natural resource management, advocating collaborative approaches, and establishing a network of partners and stakeholders to build a sustainable Indonesia.YKAN has two main programs: Terrestrial and Marine. The Marine Program has developed a range of strategies and initiatives to ensure that Indonesia’s marine resources are sustainably managed for the benefit of present and future generations. These efforts are implemented through partnerships with government institutions, the private sector, academia, and local communities.One of the four key strategies under the Marine Program is Coastal Resilience. This strategy includes several initiatives focused on climate change mitigation and adaptation, such as the Mangrove Ecosystem Restoration Alliance (MERA), Blue Carbon, and climate adaptation in small island ecosystems.Currently, the Coastal Resilience Program operates across multiple locations, including Jakarta, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI), Riau, Berau, Bangka Belitung, Lingga, Wakatobi, Sawu Sea, Bird’s Head Seascape, and Teon Nila Serua.
