O Coro Sinfônico de São José dos Campos é um projeto cultural de formação musical e profissionalização artística destinado a jovens de 16 a 34 anos, com ou sem experiência. Ele foi criado em 2005 pela Fundação Cultural Cassiano Ricardo. As turmas do projeto, divididas nos núcleos preparatório, iniciante, avançado e semiprofissional, têm aulas práticas e teóricas além de ensaios e concertos programados ao longo do ano.
A presença de um pianista acompanhador em uma audição para ingresso em um coro sinfônico é fundamental para garantir a qualidade técnica e artística do processo seletivo. O acompanhamento ao piano fornece a base harmônica e tonal necessária para que os candidatos demonstrem com segurança sua afinação, musicalidade, percepção auditiva e domínio vocal, permitindo à banca avaliar o desempenho dos participantes em um contexto musical próximo à prática coral.
