O Município de Castelo/ES gera volume significativo de resíduos sólidos urbanos, dos quais parcela expressiva é composta por materiais recicláveis passíveis de reaproveitamento. A inexistência de um sistema estruturado e permanente de coleta seletiva compromete a adequada destinação desses resíduos, contribui para a sobrecarga do sistema de disposição final e acarreta a perda de materiais com relevante potencial de reaproveitamento econômico e ambiental.Diante desse cenário, torna-se necessária a implementação de um modelo estruturado de prestação de serviços voltado à coleta seletiva, triagem e destinação adequada dos materiais recicláveis, fundamentado no credenciamento de associações e cooperativas de catadores, promovendo, simultaneamente, a melhoria da gestão de resíduos sólidos, o fortalecimento da economia circular e a inclusão socioprodutiva dos trabalhadores envolvidos na cadeia da reciclagem, em atendimento as demandas da Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente.
