Concrete sleepers are used on railways for the construction of the superstructure, respectively for mounting rails on sleepers by means of fastenings. The concrete sleepers take up the dynamic loads from the rail and transmit them to the track prism. Due to the stresses to which they are subjected during operation, due to the efforts from the rolling stock in circulation as well as due to the climatic conditions of operation, the concrete sleepers wear out, no longer being able to ensure a firm fastening of the rails with negative effects regarding the track gauge. Failure to ensure firm fastening of the rails can lead to serious disturbances of the track superstructure. To avoid disturbances, it is necessary to replace worn concrete sleepers, of various types, either individually or in rows, with new ones. The permanent operation of railway lines is ensured by maintaining the component parts of the track and their geometric parameters in the tolerances admitted in the CFR service instructions and standards. Due to the advanced degree of deterioration of the physical and state parameters, disturbances occur in train circulation. To avoid disturbances and possible railway incidents, it is necessary to periodically replace reinforced concrete sleepers (depending on the wear suffered due to the gross tonnage stored, deteriorations for various reasons, etc.). The products are monobloc sleepers, made of prestressed reinforced concrete and equipped with elastic direct fastening systems for standard gauge tracks (1435 mm) and standardized track gauge widenings of 10 or 20 mm, for railway curves with track widenings where it is necessary to increase the standard gauge for the correct inscription of rolling stock in curves and are necessary for the maintenance and repair of the tracks, activities carried out based on approved work programs. The execution of these work programs according to the provisions of the specialized instructions is conditioned by the provision of adequate material base. To avoid disturbances, it is necessary to replace worn concrete sleepers, of various types, either individually or in rows, with new ones or by replacing unsuitable wooden sleepers located mainly in the curves and within the maintenance works with row replacement of track superstructure elements.
