This invitation for prequalification follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business of February 2, 2009 on-line and in Dg Market.

The Port of Rijeka Authority has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) toward the cost of the Rijeka GatewayProject, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for Zagreb Container Terminal Pier Construction No.: RGP-CW-050/08-ICB. The Port of Rijeka Authority intends to prequalify contractors and/or firms for the Design & Build works contract for the Stage 1 [400m] quay wall together with the on-shore land filling, and includes the preparation of the design for the Stage 1 & 2 container terminal [680m] sufficient for the existing Location Permit to be updated or a new Location Permit to be issued by the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Construction. As part of their design duties the Contractor is responsible for processing and obtaining all Permits for construction and use of the Stage 1 and 2 works.

Construction of the additional stage, Stage 2 of 280m, may potentially be instructed by the PRA to be undertaken concurrently with the Stage 1 works or may be a separate contract.

In accordance with the IBRD procedures a two stagebidding process will be adopted

Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 2004 (revised October 2006), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in the guidelines.

Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from and inspect theprequalification document at the address below from 09:00 to15:00 hours. A complete set of the prequalification documentin English may be purchased by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of EUR 300 or in equivalent amountin a freely convertible currency. The document will be sent by courier. The method of payment will be:

Applications for prequalification in original and two copies should be submittedin sealed envelopes, delivered to the address below by April 15, 2009 and be clearly marked "Application to Prequalify for Rijeka Gateway Project, Zagreb Container Terminal Pier Construction, Contract No. RGP-CW-050/08-ICB".
