Terms of Reference for IUCN Consultancy Design and printing of TWENDE success stories compendium Objective of the Consultancy The goal of the assignment is to design, lay out, and produce professionally printed copies of a high-quality success stories compendium (booklet). The designer will bring together written narratives, photographs, and captions already gathered from TWENDE project interventions, transforming them into a visually engaging, print-ready publication that presents evidence of community transformation. The final deliverables will include a digital file and a specified number of printed booklets, finished to a professional standard. The objective of the project is to reduce the cost of climate change-induced drought on Kenya’s national economy by increasing the resilience of livestock and other land use sectors in restored and effectively governed rangeland ecosystems. The project seeks to strengthen climate change adaptation in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs). 1 | P age The project targets 11 counties in two major climate zones and borders 3 critical landscapes and ecosystems. The project aims to benefit 620,000 people in 104,000 households and will protect or restore 500,000 hectares of rangelands in a landscape of 2.5 million hectares. The target landscapes face challenges of weak capacities for landscape planning, poor access to climate data and analysis, and low access to markets and financial services. The project addresses these challenges through three components, each implemented by a different executing entity under the leadership and guidance of the accredited entity, IUCN. The project is implemented in two landscapes (Sabarwawa/Mid Tana and KyuluHills) encompassing 11 counties. These target landscapes face challenges of weak capacities for landscape planning, poor access to climate data and analysis, and low access to markets and financial services. Implementation of the TWENDE project is through three components: Component 1: Climate change adapted planning for drought resilience – The component ensures coordinated transboundary rangeland management decisions are strengthened by enhanced climate change analysis and participatory community and county planning. The component contributes to addressing the barriers of weak capabilities and inadequate governance institutions Component 2: Restoration of rangeland landscapes for ecosystem-based adaptation – The components main output is to ensure prioritized rangeland resources (including water), are brought under restoration, safeguarded and sustainably managed for improved climate change resilience; Component 3: Climate change resilient ecosystem management for investments– Main focus is public, private and community investments in natural resources, addressing barriers related to insufficient investment in rangelands and poor access to markets and financial services. TWENDE is implemented by IUCN (the Accredited Entity) and Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives (MoALFC); National Drought Management Authority (NDMA); and Conservation International (CI). Scope of Work The consultant/firm will perform the following tasks: The Graphic Designer will be responsible for the complete design, layout, and printing of the TWENDE success stories compendium.
