Description

The contract comprises the provision of the following specialist non-destructive testing, invasive investigation works and laboratory analysis to determine the condition of the structural elements of the bridges, with the aim of informing bridge remediation requirements. The scope of works includes all traffic management, special access (boat access, scaffolding and / or underbridge unit), acquiring road opening licences, and liaison with statutory bodies, as necessary. Reinstatement of test locations, provision of detailed test records, and reporting of results will also be required. Wexford Bridge (multi-span composite steel girder with reinforced concrete deck): • Invasive investigations such as concrete breakouts and extraction of concrete cores • Non-destructive testing such as covermeter survey, chloride ingress testing, carbonation testing, half-cell potential and resistivity testing. • Laboratory testing of concrete cores and dust samples • Ultrasonic thickness measurements of steel girders • Paint system inspection and testing (by paint system specialist) • Dive inspection of underwater components (by certified dive team) • Bathymetric (bed-level) survey of riverbed Edermine Bridge (multi-span prestressed precast beam and infill slab deck) • Invasive investigations such as concrete breakouts and extraction of concrete cores • Non-destructive testing such as covermeter survey, chloride ingress testing, carbonation testing, half-cell potential and resistivity testing. • Laboratory testing of concrete cores and dust samples • Ultrasonic thickness measurements of steel piles • Pile integrity testing • Dive inspection of underwater components (by certified dive team) • Bathymetric (bed-level) survey of riverbed Kildavin Bridge (single span masonry arch): • Pilot holes, slit trenches and trial pits • Geophysics (GPR and seismic refraction)
