Digital microscopy and analysis platform

The Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems requires a modular digital microscope system with an element analysis unit for research and development work on electronic components and optical glasses, which should be designed as follows (see also the attached system description): A modular, integrated digital microscopy and analysis system is to be procured, consisting of three workstations, for use in a publicly funded research institution. The overall system consists of two independently usable base systems and a third, pluggable workstation and is to be designed to enable a continuous workflow from macroscopic overview through high-resolution detailed analysis to digital measurement, documentation, and quantitative material analysis (percentage output). The system must cover a very broad range of applications. It should be suitable for large-area overview shots as well as high-resolution microanalysis, and for different materials, surfaces, sample sizes, and geometries. For this purpose, various macro, overview, and high-magnification optics as well as several stand and stage configurations must be provided. Different illumination and viewing modes (e.g., bright/dark field, polarization and oblique illumination, as well as DIC) must be integrated and controllable via software.
