Earthworks, Masonry, and Concrete Works

This tender concerns the construction of earthworks, masonry, and concrete works for the new Life-inspired Engineering Molecular Systems (LEMS) building. The scope of work includes substantial excavation of approximately 2,500 m3 and backfilling of a similar volume, along with the preparation of approximately 1,895 m2 of formation level. Key masonry and concrete activities involve the pouring of approximately 733 m3 of lean concrete wedges and 185 m3 for blinding layers. Significant concrete volumes are specified for foundations (77.5 m3), floor slabs ranging from 35 to 110 cm thick (1,830 m3), external walls (1,140 m3), internal walls (554 m3), parapets (52.5 m3), beams (123 m3), columns (2,060 m3), floor slabs (695 m3), and roof slabs (147 m3). Additionally, the project requires the installation of approximately 140 precast balcony slabs, 741 load-bearing thermal insulation elements, and 36.5 m3 of parapets. The works also encompass approximately 51 m3 of stair landings and 44.5 m3 of stair flights. A significant quantity of concrete reinforcement is specified, including 916,955 kg of rebar, along with numerous openings and recesses in masonry and concrete. The tender also includes the construction of equipment foundations for technical installations. Furthermore, static components such as dowel strips (1,385 units), bent-back connections (78 m), reinforcement splices (640 units), and compact core bearings (300 m) are required. The scope also includes anchor plates (26 units) and masonry connections. Finally, waterproofing works are a critical component, with approximately 2,335 m2 of waterproofing for earth-contacted walls and 672 m2 for earth-contacted slabs.
