Die Stadt Dachau beabsichtigt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem ASV Dachau e.V. einen Ersatzneubau für die Georg-Scherer-Halle als Schul- und Vereinssporthalle zu errichten. Die Sporthalle soll als Vereinssporthalle mit bis zu 1500 Tribünenplätzen wie auch zur Nutzung als 3-fach Schulturnhalle konzipiert werden. Ergänzend zu dieser Sporthalle soll ein Parkplatz realisiert werden, die dazugehörigen Freianlagen sind auch Gegenstand des Planungsauftrages. Das Vorhaben muss so geplant werden, dass es in zwei Bauabschnitten realisiert werden kann. Im ersten Bauabschnitt soll die Sporthalle mit umgebenden Freianlagen geplant werden. Im zweiten Bauabschnitt ist der Abbruch der bestehenden Sporthalle und Neugestaltung der Parkflächen sowie Bus-Wendeschleife vorgesehen. Die Sporthalle soll als Schulturnhalle in den für den Sportunterricht relevanten Flächen mit öffentlichen Mitteln gefördert werden.
