The Government of the Republic of Mali has received financing from the International Development Association (IDA) in the form of two credits to finance the activities of the Mali Nafa Soro Siraw Project (Mali-NSS) for an amount of FCFA 133,356,058,100. The National Coordination Unit of the Mali Nafa Soro Siraw Project (Mali-NSS) intends to use part of the financing to make payments under the contract for the Technical Studies of Preliminary Design (APS) and Detailed Design (APD) with the production of bidding documents for 404 km of rural roads, as well as the control and supervision of development works for approximately 200 km of rural roads in the Nioro region (Districts of Diéma, Diankounté Camara, and Sandaré).
- PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The objective of the study is to provide, on behalf of the client UNC Mali NSS (National Coordination Unit of the Mali Nafa Soro Siraw Mali-NSS Project) through the Directorate General of Roads (DGR), the technical study services for Preliminary Design (APS) and Detailed Design (APD) for 404 km of rural roads with the production of bidding documents, as well as the control and supervision of development works for approximately 200 km of rural roads passable in all seasons.
The consulting firm will carry out any necessary adjustments if a rainy season occurs between the studies and the start of the works.
A road passable in all seasons is a road without permanent interruption factors throughout the year and on which it is possible to drive at a minimum speed of 40 km/h in a 4x4 vehicle.
Note: The works mainly concern the construction of crossing structures (culverts, pipes, fords, small bridges, etc.), the repair or reinforcement of structures, drainage (construction of ditches, gutters, etc.), and the treatment of potential cut-off areas. Earthworks will be carried out in places to ensure traffic continuity and the connection of structures, but in no case will the continuous resurfacing or raising of the road surface from end to end be undertaken.
The consultant will also define road safety activities on the selected roads. These activities will include fencing schools and installing speed bumps at the entrance to populated areas.
