Important note regarding items 56 and 57 of the bill of quantities: The described chassis requires a driver's airbag and a side airbag. This requirement must be met. Reason: The new rescue vehicle to be procured will, like the current rescue vehicle, primarily respond to incidents on the federal motorway 7. The utmost urgency is required here, as human lives are often at risk and therefore the approach is always with special signals. Once the rescue vehicle reaches the motorway, it usually drives through a rescue lane to the scene. Here, collisions can occur due to inattentiveness of other road users. Furthermore, the rescue vehicle is to be deployed in the newly established district fire brigade readiness in Lower Saxony. This also involves longer journeys on the motorway and possibly in difficult terrain. In the event of a flood, in such difficult terrain, the FTZ's Unimog has already tipped over due to the ground not always being fully visible. Here, employees must be particularly protected. Employee safety comes first. Even if airbags are not currently standard equipment, it should not be forgotten that newly acquired vehicles will be in service for the next 30 years and will be used frequently. Therefore, the rescue vehicle must be equipped with a view to the future to offer employees the greatest possible protection, as the client, as an employer, has a duty of care towards its employees.
