FKZ 3726 57 102 0 - Update and supplement of emission factors for tire and brake wear for reporting

ReFoPlan: "Update and supplement of emission factors for tire and brake wear for reporting" Wear from brakes and tires represents a significant source of dust emissions (TSP, PM10, PM2.5). The emission factors are used nationally to meet international reporting obligations (e.g., Geneva Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution). These emissions are compiled annually by the UBA for this purpose and reported to the EU Commission. The basis for the emission data are driving performance data and route-specific emission factors (EF) for various vehicle classes. However, the currently used EF are highly aggregated and lack an up-to-date data basis. The aim of the project is to identify currently available data sources for both types of wear (tire, brake) and to transfer them into the size classifications of wear for reporting. The representativeness of the emission data must be evaluated, plausibilized, and taken into account accordingly with regard to emissions in practical operation, depending on the measurement conditions used. The data to be determined include, on the one hand, the mass of emitted particles in the three mentioned size classes, differentiated by vehicle type, and on the other hand, the chemical composition of the particles and the associated emissions of metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and black carbon.
