Description

Project Background Forestry and Parks is responsible for the management and stewardship of Alberta’s public lands, which comprise a significant portion of the provincial land base, and for enabling a wide range of industrial, commercial, recreational, and agricultural uses of those lands. This responsibility includes administering dispositions under the Public Lands Act and the Public Lands Administration Regulation. Public land rents and royalties are the primary mechanisms through which the Province is compensated for the disposition of public land and for granting rights to occupy, use, or extract resources, as well as for activities that occur on public land. This project will supply information to assess potential options for public land pricing models. Project Objectives Forestry and Parks is looking to hire a service provider to undertake analytical work outlining potential pricing systems for Alberta including the option of maintaining or minimally adjusting existing approaches. In addition, the service provider will identify, compile, and assess all available datasets and implementation requirements to support the potential pricing systems. The analysis will identify potential benefits, impacts, risk and mitigations of the various options. The service provider will have experience conducting economic analysis and evaluating pricing models.
