Poultry

The contract for LOT 1 'Poultry' consists of the following service components: Poultry in the context of this tender refers to poultry as defined in Article 4(9) of Regulation (EU) 2016/429. Slaughter shall generally be carried out on the farm. It should preferably take place within the animal housing to prevent the escape of animals or contamination of the surroundings. In the event of an animal disease outbreak, the contractor must provide suitable poultry slaughter systems which, like the materials used, must comply with German requirements for slaughter. Furthermore, all legal requirements, particularly concerning the prevention and control of animal diseases, animal welfare, health, labor, and environmental protection, must be observed. In addition, backup procedures must be available in case the initially planned slaughter systems fail. By submitting its offer, the contractor declares that it will only use slaughter methods for poultry that are permissible under animal welfare legislation, primarily: - electrical stunning, - slaughter by injection, and - slaughter by gas. The execution of each slaughter method must also be compliant with animal welfare regulations at all times, and the necessary expertise and skills of the personnel carrying out the procedure must be ensured. This must be appropriately documented in standard operating procedures and monitored by the contractor. By submitting its offer, the contractor declares its ability to perform the animal slaughter operations under varying local conditions of poultry holdings, meaning regardless of the poultry species, the weight and sex of the animals, the size of the livestock farms, the diversity of housing systems, or the condition of the sheds, which does not always permit shed fumigation for practical or animal welfare reasons.
