HP128/2026 SPECT/CT device

The Varsinais-Suomi wellbeing services county's Tyks Isotope Department needs to acquire a StarGuide GX SPECT/CT device from GE Healthcare Finland Oy. StarGuide GX is a 3D ring-structure SPECT/CT device that enables undisturbed imaging of radiation emitted by commonly used diagnostic and therapeutic radionuclides (e.g., 99mTc, 123I, 177Lu, 131I, and 225Ac) and the performance of the most common static, dynamic, and multi-energy SPECT/CT examinations. According to Section 40, Paragraph 2, Clause 2 of the Act on Public Procurement and Concession Contracts (1397/2016), the contracting authority may choose direct procurement if, for technical reasons or reasons related to the protection of exclusive rights, only a specific supplier can carry out the procurement; an additional condition is that there are no reasonable alternative or substitute solutions and that the lack of competition is not due to an artificial restriction of the procurement conditions. The radionuclides used by the unit require the imaging system to be able to receive and process a wide energy spectrum, approximately 40-500 keV. The device to be procured is the only SPECT/CT system on the market with a dual-sided detector. One side of the dual-sided detector has an optimized collimator for low and medium energy radiation, and the other side has an optimized collimator for high radiation energies, so that the undisturbed measurement of the extreme ends of the spectrum is not based on computational methods but on the amount and energy of directly measured radiation. The collimator optimized for low-energy radiation enables higher sensitivity (≥ 1000 kcps/MBq/cm3) for radionuclides such as 99mTc, allowing for more reliable detection of small and low-contrast findings and the use of lower patient activity. In addition, the collimator optimized for high energies enables the measurement of a wider range of higher gamma peaks, such as the measurement of both gamma peaks of 131I radionuclide, both gamma peaks of 177Lu radionuclide, and all three gamma peaks of 225Ac radionuclide.
