ICTJ is searching for a Field Coordinator to join its program in Chad to support the implementation of the program.
FIELD COORDINATOR CONSULTANT
As part of a forthcoming assessment on opportunities and challenges for transitional justice in Chad, ICTJ seeks to recruit a national Field Coordinator to support the planning, implementation, and follow-up of an in-country assessment mission. The assessment will examine the prospects for transitional justice processes in Chad, identify technical assistance needs, and produce recommendations for future engagement.
Duty Station
Remote and within Chad, depending on security and operational conditions, with ability to travel within the region and beyond as required.
Scope of Work
The expected period of the consultancy is
three (3) months
, beginning in August 2026, with the possibility of extension subject to project needs, funding availability, and satisfactory performance.
Under the general supervision and guidance of the Senior Programs Expert, the Field Coordinator will provide logistical, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and contextual support throughout the assessment process. Specific tasks of the
Field Coordinator
are to:
Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of the transitional justice assessment in Chad.
Contribute to the contextual, political, security, and social analysis relevant to the assessment.
Identify and facilitate engagement with key stakeholders, including government institutions, civil society organizations, victims' groups, community leaders, and international partners.
Organize and coordinate meetings, interviews, focus group discussions, workshops, and field visits.
Provide logistical support for assessment missions, including venue arrangements, participant outreach, travel coordination, and interpretation needs.
Contribute to stakeholder mapping and provide contextual analysis on political, social, and security developments relevant to transitional justice in Chad.
Assist with the collection and documentation of information gathered during consultations and field activities.
Support the assessment process by coordinating follow-up consultations and stakeholder feedback on draft findings.
Ensure effective communication and coordination between ICTJ, local partners, and other stakeholders.
Adhere to ICTJ's internal policies, procedures, and institutional values throughout the consultancy.
Perform other relevant duties as agreed to support of the assessment process.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degreefrom an accredited university
required,
Master’s degree or higher in social sciences, law, development, economics, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant working experience, including at least three (3) years in transitional justice, human rights, peace building, governance, project management or research, or a related field.
Related Skills and Knowledge:
Fluency in Arabic, and or French, both written and spoken, required.
Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Chad’s political, social, and institutional landscape
Experience working or cooperation with government structures, civil society organizations, media groups.
Experience in facilitating focus groups, training, and consultations with various stakeholders on a national level.
Excellent communication skills and diplomatic conduct.
Willingness to learn and adapt tasks and responsibilities to a changing environment.
Ability to work in a multicultural environment and complex program structure.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Demonstrated rigorous attention to detail.
Positive, proactive, collaborative attitude.
Strong organizational skills along with the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility and a commitment to teamwork.
Identification with ICTJ’s mission.
Strong analytical skills and ability to write clear reports.
Ability to explain highly technical results to non-technical audiences.
