Description

Shunda Consulting and Construction Management Ltd. on behalf of Alberta Infrastructure This Project involves the complete decant of the existing Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) NICU from Level 5 of the West Wing into the existing General Medicine Inpatient Unit 62, enabling the future redevelopment of Levels 5 and 6 under a separate contract. The Decant Works include upgrades to Unit 62 to support intensive-care functions, including new air handling units with required redundancy, new medical gas distribution, substantial electrical upgrades, new data infrastructure, and significant asbestos abatement requiring demolition and reinstatement of the majority of ceilings. The existing unit layout will remain largely unchanged. Additional work on Level 11 includes a SANTS room, equipment storage, and administrative spaces. A new AHU will be installed on the west roof above the Timberline Cafeteria, with ductwork routed up the building exterior into the decant space. The scope is organized into three (3) work areas, each executed as a single phase, with a full-scale, vendor-equipped headwall mockup preceding the production order of forty- two (42) headwalls. All work will be completed within an active hospital and will be subject to strict Infection Prevention Control (IP&C) requirements.
