Description

The scope for this Project is to be reviewed in Schedule D (Contract) and includes, but is not limited to, demolition, decanting, construction, and mechanical and electrical modification activities required for the MDRD at the ACH in Calgary, Alberta.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Health Shared Services (HSS) operate the facility, and the hospital will remain in operation during the Project, necessitating close coordination with AHS and HSS staff.

The scope of this project includes, but is not limited to, the following:
a) Renovate/Modernize the existing MDRD space of about 849 square meters and expand into the adjacent IT workspace of 74 square meters (approximate project area of 923 square meters), to meet growing service demand and improve workflow, and to replace the existing hoppers (eight (8) total) with mechanical flushers/disinfectors at soiled utility rooms throughout the existing facility.
b) Complete the renovation via a combination of phasing and use of temporary MDRD strategies as designed to meet best practices and standards, commission and hand over the completed facility to AHS and HSS for operation.
c) Plan for decant and manage temporary relocation of AHS and HSS staff. The Construction Manager (CM) is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all decant activities required to maintain continuous facility operations throughout construction and commissioning. Decant activities include, but are not limited to, the temporary relocation of the MDRD department into a mobile/temporary MDRD unit and the permanent relocation of IT office staff into their renovated space. Decant coordination must be considered as a critical path activity and CM must develop a comprehensive Decant Management Plan as a priority deliverable following Contract award.
