Repair of sliding gate 2 GS K-H

This tender concerns the comprehensive refurbishment of Sliding Gate 2 at the Kiel-Holtenau Lock on the Kiel Canal (Nord-Ostsee-Kanal). The gate, originally constructed in 1912, last underwent major refurbishment in the late 1980s. Due to the unavailability of suitable repair facilities, such as dry docks, within the Waterways and Shipping Administration (Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsverwaltung), the scope of this project includes not only the repair works but also the provision of an appropriate repair site. The contractor will be responsible for transporting the gate from Kiel to the repair site and its subsequent return to the Kiel-Holtenau Lock upon completion of the works. The sliding gate is a riveted/bolted steel structure with a total height of approximately 19.0 meters. It features four horizontal crossbars (labeled 'A' to 'D' from bottom to top) and a continuous buoyancy box between crossbars 'B' and 'C', measuring 7.94 meters wide and comprising 16 buoyancy and ballast tanks. The overall width, including guide and sealing timbers, is 8.75 meters, with a total length of 46.51 meters. The estimated weight of each sliding gate is around 1,200 tons. Key services required include: transportation of the sliding gate to and from the repair site, including necessary lifting operations; steel construction works, involving the renewal of approximately 100 tons of steel structure, primarily as bolted constructions; piping works (approx. 400m); scaffolding (approx. 2,900m² of standing scaffolding on external surfaces and approx. 5,600m³ of internal space scaffolding, partly within buoyancy/ballast tanks); and corrosion protection (approx. 14,500m²). This includes cleaning steel surfaces, remediation of hazardous substances by removing approximately 14,500m² of contaminated coating, surface preparation to Sa 2 1/2 standard, and application of primer, intermediate, and top coats. Disposal of blasting waste and polyethylene (PE) works (approx. 70m³) for sealing are also part of the scope.
