The Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm will receive a grant from replacement payments for the nature conservation project "Development of lean meadows near Gransdorf" by grant decision of the Foundation for Nature and Environment Rhineland-Palatinate dated 12.05.2026. The project duration is 15 years. The project area covers a total of approx. 7 ha, of which approx. 5 ha are grassland, approx. 0.3 ha are forest, and approx. 1.7 ha are shrubs on the municipality of Gransdorf, cadastral district 21, parcels 11 and 13. Parcel 11, with an area of 6.3 ha, is a complex of hedges (approx. 1.7 ha), fresh to semi-dry lean and rich meadows and pastures, and in some places semi-dry grassland (approx. 4.3 ha) and a forest island (approx. 0.3 ha). Due to a long fallow period, this complex is increasingly threatened by shrub encroachment and loss of species diversity. Parcel 13, with an area of approx. 0.7 ha, is characterized by species-poor grassland due to intensive use. Through targeted measures (de-shrubbing, soil impoverishment, species and structural enrichment, permanent opening, forest optimization), species richness is to be restored and further expanded. The aim of the planned maintenance measures is to preserve the site-typical open land structures, protect endangered species, and promote biodiversity by restoring ecologically valuable habitats. For professional support during the implementation of the measures (ecological construction supervision) as well as for monitoring the success of the implemented measures and, if necessary, adapting future maintenance measures (monitoring), including the preparation of short reports, we are looking for a professional partner for the first three project years. This announcement serves to prepare for a corresponding procurement procedure. It is planned to start a corresponding procurement procedure (open competitive procedure according to No. 5.4 of the VV Öffentliches Auftragswesen Rheinland-Pfalz) at the beginning/middle of September.
