Palveluun sisältyy turvalaitteiden vuositarkastus-, huolto- ja viankorjaustöitä sekä muiden veneliikenteen rakenteiden kunnossapitotöitä. Alueella ei ole kauppamerenkulun käyttämää syväväylästöä, mutta siellä on muun vesiliikenteen käyttämää väylästöä. Palveluun liittyvät vesiväylät ja rakenteet sijaitsevat Oulujoen vesistöalueella Kainuussa sekä Lapin alueella.
