Klinikum Esslingen - Planning ALG8 from LPH3 to 9 of Cost Group 480 - 7420_0700

In 2020, Klinikum Esslingen, in close coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration of Baden-Württemberg, developed a Master Plan for Construction for the hospital. This Master Plan for Construction envisages a total of three construction phases with the creation of three new buildings. The future buildings consistently group similar functions into units, such as outpatient clinics and functional areas, and provide for a separation of inpatient and outpatient services. The clear new structure is intended to simplify organization for the hospital, and patients are to benefit from patient-oriented processes with significantly shorter distances. The demolition of the old Bed House 2 has begun at Klinikum Esslingen, marking the start of the first phase of a comprehensive modernization project. The new construction of the first construction phase is scheduled to begin next year. The seven-story building will house eight state-of-the-art operating rooms, a central emergency department, an intensive care unit, and new nursing and specialized care areas. Hospital operations will continue without interruption during the construction work. A modular building with 150 beds has been erected as a temporary solution. In parallel, a new technical center and a ring conduit for the central control of energy and supplies are being built. The new building will be constructed on a foundation pit up to 16 meters deep and will offer approximately 16,000 square meters of usable space in the future. The new buildings within the first construction phase are included in the State Hospital Construction Program. Funding commitments for this construction phase have been received from the funding provider. Building permits from the City of Esslingen have been obtained for the new construction of Buildings 2 and 12. Two further construction phases are already planned but not yet approved. With a total of three project phases over 15 years, this is the largest single construction measure in the history of the City of Esslingen. The hospital - a wholly-owned subsidiary of the city - employs around 2,000 staff and treats over 140,000 patients annually. The project decisions made during the design planning form the basis for the further service phases. The results of the preliminary and design planning are to be adopted by the specialist planner. The planning premises of LPH 2 and 3 remain valid and will be updated during the preparation and with LPH 5 onwards. The new buildings House 2 and House 7 and 8 form a structurally and functionally connected building complex. This is connected via various links to the surrounding above-ground and underground existing structures. The construction project to be processed is divided into the sub-projects House 2 in the 1st construction phase and new construction House 7 and 8 in the 2nd construction phase, each including the demolition of existing buildings (exception BA2), foundation pit, and shoring. The new buildings are to be realized on the site during ongoing hospital operations. The following key figures result for the new buildings: Planning 1st BA with interim facilities (House 2): Design planning status: 6,452 sqm usable floor area, 18,225 sqm gross floor area Planning 1st BA with interim facilities (House 12): Design planning status: 176 sqm usable floor area, 1,333 sqm gross floor area Planning 2nd BA (House 7 and 8) with final modification and expansion of interim facilities: Preliminary planning status: 12,775 sqm usable floor area, 28,497 sqm gross floor area The essential functional units include the central operating theater, outpatient operating rooms, intensive care units, CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department), interdisciplinary emergency department, as well as other functional areas (including functional diagnostics and patient wards, technical and administrative areas) and associated patient wards. Necessary interim measures within the construction phases are to be implemented in the planning.
