Description

Der geplante Neubau des Kultur- und Begegnungszentrums ergänzt das bestehende nordöstliche «Zeughaus K2» mit zwei Bauten, dem «Kultursaal» und dem «Kulturregal». Der östliche Vorbereich des K2 bildet den Ankunftsbereich des Kulturzentrums. Besuchsparkplätze, Velounterstände und Anlieferungsbereiche befinden sich auf dieser Seite. Das K2, Kultursaal und Kulturregal bilden mit ihrer Setzung einen Hofbereich. Die entstandene Fläche kann für Veranstaltungen, Apéros etc. genutzt werden und ist somit die Erweiterung der jeweils angrenzenden Innenräume. Südlich der neuen Gebäude führt eine Treppe sowie eine Rampe auf das ursprüngliche Niveau und den im Bestand zu erhaltenden Aussenraum des KUZU. Die Rasen- und Belagsfläche lässt Raum für grosse Events (wie das H2U oder den Mittelaltermarkt), kann aber auch kleinräumiger bespielt werden. Die westliche Seite dient der Erschliessung der PKWs und LKWs von der Zürichstrasse auf das Areal. Westlich des Kultursaals befindet sich eine Retentionsfläche für den Wasserrückhalt des anfallenden Dachwassers. Mitten in der Retentionsfläche steht der alte Kegelbunker. Die Ergänzungen des Kulturzentrums sind Bestandteil eines Masterplans zum gesamten Zeughausareal. Auch die westliche Nachbarparzelle wird in den nächsten Jahren neu bebaut. Der Betrieb des Kulturzentrums soll während der Bauzeit weiterhin funktionieren.
