Soil science construction supervision In the course of the expansion of the subway network of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the new construction of the U5 subway line to open up densely populated urban areas is planned by Hamburger Hochbahn AG (project developer). The route of the U5 leads from the east of Bramfeld and Steilshoop via Sengelmannstraße, City Nord and Borgweg into the city center via the main station and from there to Siemersplatz via Arenen/Volkspark to Lurup and Osdorfer Born. Planning and realization of the expansion will take place in sections. On the U5 section from Bramfeld to City Nord, construction work has been in full swing since autumn 2021. The subsequent section from City Nord to Jarrestraße is currently undergoing the plan approval process. The remaining route via Winterhude, the city center, the Grindel district, Hoheluft and Lokstedt to the Arenen is currently being planned in detail. Soil science construction supervision The Soil Science Construction Supervision (BBB) services advertised here in the U5 project include the definition of the necessary measures for the preservation and restoration of soil functions (soil protection concept) and monitors their compliance during construction execution from a soil protection technical perspective and according to requirements. Ensuring the implementation of measures from the soil protection concept (e.g. control of proper storage of topsoil piles, ongoing recording of soil condition (soil moisture, water tension, consistency, soil load-bearing capacity, degree of compaction)). A report must be kept for each site visit and submitted to the client. The first 1.5 years weekly site visits, the following 1.5 years site visits will take place every two weeks. The soil protection concept is the basis for the BBB's activity and will be specified or implemented on-site by the BBB. Control of compliance with soil protection and waste law regulations and requirements from PFB: o Measures to comply with requirements for soil removal (consideration of weather conditions, use of load-distributing construction machinery, separate removal of topsoil and subsoil, backward progression) o Measures to comply with requirements for temporary storage (e.g. separate temporary storage of topsoil and subsoil intended for vegetation purposes according to DIN 19639:2019-09, definition of duration, use of a suitable seed mixture, soil-friendly management) o Definition of recultivation goals and a target use on temporarily used areas Definition of measures to achieve recultivation goals (e.g. deep loosening in case of harmful compaction of the subsoil, separate application of topsoil and subsoil with crawler excavators, without driving on the soil) o Measures to protect against harmful soil changes and soil contamination by the input and mobilization of interfering and hazardous substances o Measures to protect against soil erosion Close exchange with the environmental construction supervision (UBB) is mandatory. - Monitoring of re-installation measures: necessary soil protection measures in unforeseen situations, layer-by-layer re-installation, avoidance of surface load on the existing subsoil during installation, avoidance of overly loose installation, etc., ensuring careful handling of the topsoil, ensuring that new topsoil must not be driven on. Ensuring backward, i.e. at the head, re-installation of the topsoil (especially sensitive soils in the city park!)
