The 2026 Men's European Volleyball Championship is divided among four host countries: Italy, Finland, Bulgaria, and Romania. One of the four preliminary round groups of the championship will be played in Tampere. The other groups will be played in Sofia, Bulgaria, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and several cities in Italy, where the final stages of the championship will also be played. Six teams will play in the Tampere group, and all group games will be played from September 10-17, 2026, at the Nokia Arena.

The total cost of the procurement for the city is a maximum of EUR 435,688 without commitment. The purchase price corresponds to the City of Tampere's view of the current market price level based on experiences from similar-sized events organized previously. The city has demonstrably compared the costs of different events and the costs of organizing the activities covered by the contract. The costs for the City of Tampere under the contract are directly related to the costs incurred by the contracting partner in organizing the event, and the amount does not include any additional margin. Therefore, this is a cost-sharing arrangement, and the procurement does not include direct or indirect support to the City of Tampere's contracting partner. The procurement is at market price, and the contract deliverables do not include overcompensation or prohibited state aid.

Negotiations for the event began between the parties in 2022, and through negotiations and deliberations by the major event working group (March 17, 2023, August 23, 2023, March 7, 2024) and the City Board (September 18, 2023), the outcome stipulated in the contract and decision was reached.,
