Het Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg wenst het elektrisch aansluitvermogen van de campus Sint-Jan uit te breiden. De huidige campus beschikt over een elektrisch vermogen van 5 MVA via een interne hoogspanningslus. Door uitbreiding (ca. 60.000 m²) en in het kader van de energieshift (uitfaseren gas als energiebron) is een hoger aansluitvermogen vereist. Er werd een ontwerp opgemaakt om met twee feeders van elk 10 MVA aan te sluiten op het onderstation van Langerlo (Genk). Om de continuïteit te verzekeren bij uitval/onderhoud van één feeder zullen vier noodaggregaten van elk 2,5 MVA het vermogen opvangen.
