Delivery of a battery storage system with charging facility for vehicles (Energy Storage Governance) for the Osnabrück Police Directorate

The European Union aims for climate neutrality by 2050 and a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. National authorities in Germany and the Netherlands have set even more ambitious climate goals, aiming for CO2 neutrality as early as the 2030s. The state, as an institution, wants to set a good example in terms of CO2 neutrality in both the Netherlands and Germany; the procurement of e-vehicles is therefore a top priority in mobility equipment. However, e-mobility requires a radical change in public infrastructure, especially in the area of energy supply. Emerging dependencies on permanent power availability and stable grids pose significant "new" challenges for public structures. Existing emergency safeguards for infrastructure based on fossil fuels must be rethought in this context, especially for so-called "critical infrastructure" such as police, fire departments, rescue services, hospitals, etc. The consortium of 7 partners (3 public organizations, 1 SME, 3 knowledge institutions) is developing a joint exemplary governance for mobile energy storage and charging systems, primarily for police authorities in the German-Dutch border region. This system can be used with simple adjustments for other critical infrastructure (KRITIS) institutions such as fire departments, disaster control, or rescue services. Relevant developments are taking place in the areas of central joint governance as well as in technical specifications and essential data security. The storage and charging system, developed after extensive testing in the later application area, will be fully designed. The externally built system will then provide relevant insights and planning documents for future storage and charging systems for KRITIS.
