Die Universitätsstadt Marburg verfolgt parallel zur Neugestaltung des Hamm-Brücher-Platzes den Ersatzneubau des Hamm-Brücher-Stegs mit hoher Priorität und in Abstimmung mit der Deutschen Bahn und Hessen Mobil. Mit den Bauarbeiten am Hamm-Brücher-Steg soll im 1. Quartal 2028 begonnen werden. Für das Projekt wurden bereits Sperrpausen bei der Deutschen Bahn für die Jahre 2029 und 2030 angemeldet.
